Hardy Construction

Groundworks

Groundworks, drainage and substructure

Groundworks are carried out by our own skilled operators rather than subcontracted, from site clearance and excavation through to drainage, foundations and external works.

Groundworks are among the areas in which we are strongest, and they are the principal reason we are able to hold a programme. The excavation, the drainage and the slab determine every date that follows them, and where these stages are placed with a subcontractor they are the ones most often lost.

We undertake site clearance and setting out, excavation and disposal, foundations and substructure, drainage and soakaways, service ducting, and external works including hardstanding, kerbing, car parking and retaining structures.

The scope runs from the footings for a single extension to the substructure of a housing development or a new production unit, and the same operators carry out both.

Our team holds NPORS operator cards for 360 excavators and telehandlers. Before we dig, underground services are traced by an operator trained on CAT and Genny, under a written procedure, and excavations and site traffic are managed to written procedures of their own. Our dumper and mixer are maintained to a logged schedule, and our telehandler is examined under LOLER.
