Extensions and alterations

The success of an extension is usually decided at the junction with the existing building. Rooflines that run through correctly, brickwork and stone that match, and floor levels that continue without an unexplained step are what distinguish a considered extension from an obvious addition, and they account for a great deal of the work.

We carry out the footings and drainage ourselves. On an extension these are where the unforeseen tends to appear, whether that is an old drain run, made ground, or a neighbouring foundation closer than the drawings suggested.

Building Control liaison, party wall matters and sequencing the works around a household still living in the property are treated as part of the job rather than as additional items.
